Training — the craft of flight

Three stages.
One arc.

Every pilot at Windhaven travels the same arc: understand it, practise it with an instructor, then prove it alone. Start wherever you are — the path meets you there.

The programs

01 – 03

01 — Knowledge with context

Ground school

Aerodynamics, weather, navigation, regulations and radio — taught in small evening groups and tied to your next flight, never just a textbook.

02 — Practice with purpose

Dual instruction

One-on-one flight time with your dedicated instructor: pattern work, manoeuvres, cross-countries and the judgement calls in between.

03 — Your judgement, trusted

Solo readiness

The final polish: solo circuits, supervised cross-countries and checkride prep until your instructor — and you — are certain.

How a week looks

Built around your life

  1. Two sessions a week is the sweet spot

One ground briefing and one flight, or two flights when the weather smiles. Consistency beats intensity — skills compound between lessons.

  2. Evenings and weekends, your call

Dawn patrol before work or golden-hour circuits after it. You book slots that fit your calendar, and your instructor keeps the arc moving.

  3. Weather days become ground days

Low cloud isn’t a lost week — it’s navigation planning, radio practice, or systems deep-dives that pay off on the next clear day.
